देश और दुनिया के इतिहास के पन्नों में 03 अगस्त कई कारणों से महत्वपूर्ण है, उनमें से ये सभी प्रमुख हैं:-
- 1886 में पंचवटी, यशोधरा, साकेत जैसी कालजयी रचनाओं के कवि मैथलीशरण गुप्त का जन्म आज ही के दिन झांसी के चिरगांव में हुआ था।
- 1914 में प्रथम विश्व युद्ध के दौरान जर्मनी ने फ्रांस के खिलाफ युद्ध की घोषणा की।
- 1916 में आज ही के दिन गीतकार शकील बदायूंनी पैदा हुए थे।
- 1957 में अब्दुल रहमान को मलेशिया का नया नेता चुना गया था जिनके नेतृत्व में मलेशिया ने ब्रिटेन से स्वतंत्रता हासिल की। ब्रिटेन में शिक्षा पाने वाले अब्दुल रहमान वैसे तो राज परिवार से आते थे लेकिन उन्हें हमेशा आम आदमी का नेता कहा जाता था।
- 1984 में अमेरिकी तैराक और ओलंपिक विजेता रियान लोक्टे का जन्म हुआ था।
- 2003 में अमेरीका के एंग्लिकन चर्च ने एक समलैंगिक को बिशप नियुक्त करने का फ़ैसला किया था। न्यू हैंम्पशायर के जेन रॉबिंसन को एपिस्कोपल चर्च के हाउस ऑफ डेपुटीज ने भारी बहुमत से बिशप चुना था।
