- 1923 में आज ही के दिन में देश के दिग्गज तबला वादक पंडित किशन महाराज का जन्म हुआ था।
- 1950 में आज ही के दिन एमीलियो नीनो फरिना पहले F1 वर्ल्ड चैपिंयन बने।
- 1939 में आज ही के दिन जर्मनी के पोलैंड पर चढ़ाई करने के दो दिन बाद ब्रिटेन-फ्रांस ने उसके खिलाफ जंग का ऐलान किया।
- 1984 में आज ही के दिन दक्षिण फिलिपीन्स में आये एक भयानक तूफान की वजह से इसी दिन क़रीब 1300 मारे गए थे और सैकड़ों घायल हुए थे। हवाओं की रफ्तार 185 किलोमीटर प्रति घंटे तक मापी गई।
- 1998 में आज ही के दिन स्विस एयर का न्यूयॉर्क से जेनेवा जा रहा हवाई जहाज़, नोवा स्कोटिया के पास समुद्र में गिर गया। इस जहाज़ ने हादसे के महज़ एक घंटे पहले ही उड़ान भरी थी।
- 2004 में आज ही के दिन तीन दिन से अपहरणकर्ताओं के कब्जे से रुसी सैनिकों ने स्कूल मुक्त कराया था। मुक्त कराने की इस कारवाई में कम से कम 200 लोग मारे गए थे जिनमे ज्यादातर स्कूली बच्चे थे।
