देश और दुनिया के इतिहास के पन्नों में 05 अगस्त कई कारणों से महत्वपूर्ण है, उनमें से ये सभी प्रमुख हैं:-
- 1882 में आज ही के दिन जापान में मार्शल ला लगाया गया।
- 1888 में आज ही के दिन कार का अविष्कार करने वाले कार्ल बेंज ने अपनी पहली कार का पेटेंट 1886 में करवाया था। लेकिन इस कार को लंबी दूरी तक अकेले चलाने का श्रेय उनकी पत्नी को जाता है। वे अाज ही के दिन इस कार से 104 किलोमीटर दूर के शहर गई।
- 1905 में आज ही के दिन रूस और जापान के शांति वार्ताकारों के बीच पहली बैठक अमेरिका के राष्ट्रपति रुजवेल्ट के न्यूयॉर्क स्थित घर पर हुई।
- 1921 में आज ही के दिन अमेरिका और जर्मनी ने बर्लिन शांति समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए गए।
- 1926 में आज ही के दिन फ्रांस और जर्मनी के बीच व्यापार समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए गए।
- 1945 में आज ही के दिन अमरीकी हवाई जहाज ने जापान के हिरोशिमा पर परमाणु बम गिराया था।
- 1949 में आज ही के दिन इक्वाडोर की राजधानी क्विटो में आये 6।7 की तीव्रता वाले भूकंप से छह हजार लोगों की मौत।
- 1961 में आज ही के दिन यूरी गैगेरीन के ऐतिहासिक उपक्रम के चार महीने के बाद सोवियत संघ ने अपने दूसरे अंतरिक्ष यात्री को अंतरिक्ष में उतारा था। 25 साल के मेजर टिटोव ने अपने वोस्तोक-2 अंतरिक्ष विमान में पूरा दिन बिताया।
- 1991 में आज ही के दिन न्यायमूर्ति लीला सेठ दिल्ली हाईकोट में जज बनने वाली पहली भारतीय महिला बनीं।
