- 1972 में म्यूनिख ओलंपिक के दौरान फलीस्तीनी आतंकवादी गुट ब्लैक सेप्टेंबर ने 11 इस्रायली खिलाड़ियों को बंधक बना लिया।
- 1997 में आज ही के दिन अंतर्राष्ट्रीय ओलम्पिक समिति ने सन् 2004 में होने वाले ग्रीष्म ओलम्पिक खेलों का आयोजन एथेन्स में कराने का निश्चय किया।
- 1999 में आज ही के दिन वाई नदी समझौते को कार्यान्वित करने तथा रुकी हुई पश्चिमी एशिया शांति वार्ता को आगे बढ़ाने हेतु इस्रायल के प्रधानमंत्री एहुद बराक तथा यासिर अराफ़ात के मध्य शर्म अल शेख़ (मिस्र) में शांति समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर।
- 2000 में आज ही के दिन नील्जिमालम्बा रूस में अंतर्राष्ट्रीय महिला संगठन की अध्यक्ष नियुक्त, वे इस पद को सुशोभित करने वाली पहली एशियाई महिला हैं।
- 2001 में आज ही के दिन फिजी में महेन्द्र चौधरी, जार्ज स्पेट और लाइसेनिया करासे संसद हेतु चुने गये।
- 2002 में आज ही के दिन अफ़ग़ानिस्तान के राष्ट्रपति हामिद करजई पर जानलेवा हमला, पर वे सुरक्षित रहे।
- 2008 में आज ही के दिन रतन टाटा के नेतृत्व में सोसायटी ऑफ़ इण्डियन ऑटोमोबाइल मैन्यूफैक्चरर्स (सियाम) के प्रतिनिधिमण्डल ने प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह को भेंट की।
- 2009 में आज ही के दिन नेशनल स्टॉक एक्सचेंज ने दस कम्पनियों पर शेयर बाज़ार में क़ारोबार करने पर प्रतिबंध लगाया।
