  • 1768 में आज ही के दिन ब्रिटेन के जेम्स कुक अपनी पहली साहसिक समुद्री यात्रा पर निकले थे। इसी यात्रा में उन्होंने ऑस्ट्रेलिया की खोज की और प्रशांत महासागर के जलमार्ग बताने वाले नक्शे तैयार किए। कैप्टन कुक की वजह से इंसान ने 5000 मील का तटीय इलाका खोजा. जेम्स कुक ने कला और विज्ञान जगत को भी काफी कुछ दिया।
  • 1351 में आज के दिन सुल्तान फिरोजशाह तुगलक तृतीय की ताजपोशी हुई थी।
  • 1819 में आज के दिन स्‍ककॉटिश आविष्‍कारक जेम्‍स वॉट का निधन हुआ था।
  • 1867 में आज के दिन भौतिकी विज्ञानी और रसानशास्‍त्री माइकल फैराडे का निधन हुआ था।
