  • 1789 में पहली फेडरल एजेंसी द डिपार्टमेंट ऑफ फॉरेन अफेयर्स की स्‍थापना हुई थी।
  • 1969 में दक्षिण अफ्रीका के पूर्व टेस्‍ट क्रिकेटर और अब तक के सबसे धमाकेदार फील्‍डर जॉन्‍टी रोड्स का जन्‍म हुआ था।
  • 1992 में आज ही के दिन अभिनेता अमजद खान का निधन हुआ था।
  • 1996 में ओलंपिक खेल अमरीका के जॉर्जिया राज्य के अटलांटा शहर में आयोजित किए गए। देर रात, अटलांटा के सेनटेनीयल ओलंपिक पार्क में दिन के खेल खत्म होने के बाद एक रंगारंग कार्यक्रम के दौरान ही बम धमाका हुआ। 
  • 2003 में अमरीका के बहुचर्चित हास्य कलाकार बॉब होप का 27 जुलाई को निधन हो गया। वे 100 साल के थे। वे कुछ दिन से निमोनिया से पीड़ित थे।
